During my first season as Artist in Residence a the Old Faithful inn, I had an encounter with a chipmunk wandering the hallways.  He appreared unconcerned with my presence and when I stepped aside, opening an exit door, he ignored the opportunity to escape.  Obviously this was no mistake -he had every intention of being there.  I wished him well andleft him to his business.

On another occasion, down a different hall, it happened to me again.  Whether it was the same chipmunk or not -he was a brave little soul, busy about his day, exploring the wonders of the Inn.

The Smallest Visitor could possibly be my first installment pairing the hyper little creature and the interior of this historical building.
