Many tourists visit Old Faithful Inn when they’re in Yellowstone. They eat in the restaurant, shop in it’s gift store and it’s fun to see their reactions to the lobby the first time they visit. Unfortunately, only a few take the time to truly experience it.
One of my favorite things about the Inn is the music provided at least five nights a week. Since 1992, George Sanborn has entertained guests with a medley of classical music with the piano located on the second floor. I encourage everyone to find a chair (any floor will do) sit back, relax and enjoy - it truly is a fantastic end to a spectacular day spent in the park.
I did the preliminary work for the painting during the Inn’s 100th year celebration. There are elements in the painting, such as the carpet, celebration banner, etc., that were present in 2004 but not today.
I’ve lost count on how many chipmunks I’ve encountered in the Inn through
the years; I placed one on the writing table eating and listening to George
play. I’ve yet to see one in the evening but it’s fun to imagine they might
enjoy the music as much as we do.
